Compare two loans
A lower rate isn't always the cheaper loan once fees are counted. Put two loans side by side and see which really costs less.
How the comparison works
- "Cost" is the interest plus every fee you'd pay over the period. Principal you pay off isn't a cost, because it reduces what you owe either way.
- Both loans assume principal and interest monthly repayments and rates that don't change.
- Lenders publish a comparison rate that bundles fees into one number, but it's based on a $150,000 loan over 25 years, so it can mislead on bigger loans. This calculator uses your actual loan.
- Features matter too: an offset account can save more than a small rate difference.
Important: This calculator gives estimates only, for general information. It isn't credit advice and doesn't take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs, or any particular lender's credit policy. Results rely on the figures you enter and the assumptions described on this page, and actual rates, fees, government charges and lending decisions will differ. Talk to Claire before making a decision.
